Academic registration is a process by which students (new and returning) officially follow in selecting courses for respective programmes. The process is carried out at the beginning of each academic year, and it is preceded by Financial Registration.Academic Office

Grace period of academic registration is a period of 21 days of commencement of classes whereby students are officially allowed to add/delete/substitute a course(s). After this period, students are fined for late registration (an amount authorised by Council from time to time).

Students who wish to add, delete, substitute a course or courses must collect appropriate forms from the Academic Office and fill them in under the guidance of the tutor.  This process must be done within the first 3 weeks (21 days) of commencement of classes.

Penalties on late registration: Students who register after offical registration dates, (later than 21 days set aside for registration) will be charged a daily fee up to 21 days. Currently, the fee is M30.00 per day subject to change as deemed appropriate.

Academic Registration Steps

Step 1

Students collect registration forms from their respective faculties. Forms may be issued in print or blank. If blank, a student is expected to fill in the biographical informaiton.

Courses for the intended program of study are filled in with the asistance of a relevant tutor.

Note on selection of courses: Faculties will provide lists of courses to be taken under various programmes from which students will make their choices.  The following steps are followed when selecting  relevant courses:

Step 2

A student must sign and date the choice of programme and selected courses

Step 3

The Tutor and Dean will sign and date the Registration form

Step 4

The Academic Office on behalf of the Registrar signs and dates the form.

Step 5

The student takes the form to the relevant faculty for data capturing, which is followed by issuance of a PROOF OF REGISTRATION.

Step 6

The student then becomes a bonafide student of the National University of Lesotho, and is entitled to all academic services including obtaining an identity card (ID).

Financial Registration Procedure/Clearance

1. On arrival at the Main Administration Block, collect your registration from from your Faculty.

2. Procced to the Bursar's office to complete Financial Registration.  (Contact Bursar's Office - Tel: (+266) 2221 3862)

3. You will be responsible for the compeletion of the Registration Form. There is only one form, which is in duplicate to be completed for both Financial and Academic Registration.

4. Once you have been financially cleared, proceed to Student Welfare Department for room allocation (if you had applied for accommodation on campus).

5.  Students are expected to either pay for their own tuition and residence prior to or on arrival in order to be financially cleared OR produce acceptable evidence of sponsorship.

6. The completed form will be signed and stamped by the official of the Bursary when the latter is satisfied that the student has paid both tuition and residence fees.

7. No academic registration and room allocation will be made prior to financial registration/clearance.
